devcom rules!!!!!

dc2 goes to cebu!

Hey everyone.


I'm still having a hang-over from our educational trip (or should i say, educational food trip?hehe) in Cebu. It was last August 24-26. We all had so much fun there, what with all those visits, sights, parties (!), and fooood!

Here's the lowdown on what happened where and when:

Our official crash pad was La Fortuna Hotel, where, in room616, Kathleen,Sylvia, Sozina, Jerlly, and I shared our earrings, sang in the bathroom, pranked the prank-callers from room401, and did a pseudo-fashion shoot (haha! cheers, girls!).

Right after we arrived at the port, got into our bus (with the DevCom streamer in front!), and met our tour guide (Sir Tony), we proceeded to the first part of our tour, which included ABSCBN Central Visayas, Word Broadcasting Corporation, and our favorite, Big Foot Entertainment/International Academy of Film and Television. We gained info from them, but we were -- and are still -- so awed when we got to Big Foot/IAFT. It was like a film-maker's paradise! Everything was up-to-date, modern and efficient. Some teachers in IAFT were even award-winning (Emmy's at that!). Many of us wish to study there someday. =)

On our first night in Cebu, we all planned to hit Ratsky's. Unfortunately, some of us couldn't go because of physical/emotional constraints -- including me. Kathleen, whose birthday was on the 25th, celebrated her day at the said bar, but I couldn't elaborate on that since I wasn't there. =(

The next day, we visited GMA Visayas, Philippine Daily Inquirer Cebu/Cebu Daily News, DYLA, and the popular radio drama station, DYHP. We got additional learnings, and at the end of the day, we went to SM Cebu.

The third day of the tour was spent visiting tourist and leisure spots. First, it was Alegre Guitars in Mactan, where we found all the variations of guitar we could think of. Then we proceeded to the Lapu-Lapu Shrine, still in Mactan. After that,we went to the Taoist Temple, and spent one hour in Ayala Center Cebu, before preparing for departure.

I must note here that one of the things we won't ever forget from this tour is the food! I guess the motto for this is 'indulge!' since we never ran out of something to digest in our stomachs(haha!). Our meals were über-yummy, and the buffet restos -- such as Royal Concourse and Sugbahan Grill -- were posh!

Aside from that, we had lots of fun even in our tour bus. Sir Tony gave lots of trivia about Cebu, while entertaining us with his (sometimes green) jokes. We even had "Mobile DevCom Radio", jokingly tagged as "the radio for the poor" and "CDO in Cebu". Val was the dj, Rey was the request caller, and Gian was the 'console' operator (but really, it was just his cellphone that provided the music.hehe). The mobile Devcom Radio allowed us to party even inside the bus -- while it was running!

And who could forget the endless picture-taking? Smile here, wink there -- DevCom pipz are trigger-happy pipz!

And of course, we learned a lot. The trip was like seeing the real world of communication.

I could go on and on about this trip, but before this blog entry gets way too long, I'll just thank these:
